John 4.1-42

Jesus invites each of us, from the most broken part of our being, to find healing and new life in the waters of His Spirit.

The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, gathers the dispersed of Israel, Heals the brokenhearted, binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147.2-3)

The Outsider

A lone woman of low esteem
Encounters Him at Jacob’s well:
Engaging her, He will redeem,
And, in her brokenness, He’ll dwell.

Trust builds as He slowly reveals,
His presence to her in her place;
Her heart’s deep loneliness soon heals —
She draws her neighbors by His grace.

The living waters He provides,
Will quench the parched heart’s deepest thirst;
As the heart’s barriers subside,
His wellspring opens with a burst.

Living waters of new life flow
From her heart, as a new wellspring,
To her neighbors, she can bestow
His mercy, grace, and belonging.

He draws the lone sheep to the fold;
The loneliest of hearts, He’ll hold.

May the Lord of love quench our deepest thirst with His living water.
